brrrrrrrr...ok so honestly it really really is cold

Hi guys!

Hope everyone is staying warm in this crazy weather.  :) I am in Houston and hopefully heading back to the Big frozen D tomorrow morning before it snows in Houston on Friday.  Who's ready for summer??????

Ok so a LOT has happened since I last wrote.....We had an awesome weekend showing off the house.  We had a ton of visitors which was super fun.  In town visitors:  Aunt Mimi, Aunt Ellie, Uncle John, Maddie, Rusty, Sean, Austin and Anna out of towners:  Joy, Stephen, my angel godson Jameson, Charlie, MOM AND DAD!! WOOHOO!! Mom and Dad were finally able to come up and see the house.  Patrick and I were so so excited that Dad was feeling so great and was able to see the house.  It was so fun seeing them!  It's hard to believe that (hopefully) the next time they come up, they will be able to stay with us at the house!  We are hoping to be in the house the end of Feb...keeping our fingers crossed ESP with the awesome weather that has halted everything as of today.  Seriously, we live in Texas?

Light fixtures were going to be hung today but due to the bitter cold, ice, snow, etc no one in Dallas is working today....(patrick is!  He's working hard for his money..eehh eehh ehhh...well just chatted with him and he is watching the OC with Maddie and Katie....almost a full day i guess!) :)

Well, I hope ya'll enjoyed the photos!  We cannot be more excited, esp we the thought of moving in soooo soon.  Our baby apt is hilarious.  All the new things we keep buying having taken over the apt sooooo basically no room at the inn.  :)  We are SOOOOO excited that Toby, Nina and Pat are going to be in town this weekend.  WAHOOOO!!!!  We cannot wait for them to be here and to see the house.  :)  Everyone have a safe and wonderful week!  Miss Sally's birthday is this Friday and it seems it might snow on Friday so she might get a snow day.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY! :)

Have a very safe week!

dear lord, it's cold outside!

Hi guys...writing this as I try to warm up in my car in the tom thumb parking lot.  Yep, found another place with wifi! :) Wahooo, grocery shopping and then blogging.

Well, it's a balmy 30 outside and still they are working on our house.  Pat and I went by this morning and it's looking pretty awesome! :)  The painters are in there right now painting and should be done by tomm afternoon.  just crazy how fast they go!  They will still have to come back and do the coffee glaze over the downstairs but it's so cool how fast they work.  Don't worry, they have heaters in the house, bc I was so worried they were going to freeze to death!  I'm making cookies today and plan on taking some over to them...I wanted to bring hot chocolate but Patrick thinks that will be a debacle! :)

here are a few updated photos:

The front “formal” living area!  They were so sweet and trimmed it out for us!

Looking into our dining room…my piece is on the left and again trimmed out and framed the windows! J
Looking at the staircase from the dining room!
The spice racks (those fancy corbels pull out and hold the spices) and detail in the kitchen!
More details of the cabinets in the kitchen!

The downstairs bedroom with the railing detail…Patrick’s favorite!
The view from the back….from Johnny and Yvette’s house…ha ha ha….the lot is for sale so we keep saying they are going to buy it and build their house and we will have a gate betw our two fences!  Our neighbors would LOVE us! J
This is where the 6 ft wine fridge is going to go with wine rack above it.  This is in our breakfast room.  I don’t know if ya’ll can see but the little decorative piece above the rack matches the one in the dining room.  It has a fleur de lis….a nod to Louisiana and the Cajun in us! J
Our island with the brown stain! J
Our wooden mantle that David Gardner made for us.  He did an awesome job.  We told him to just do what he thought would look good.  He is so talented!
The cabinets on my side in our bathroom.
I know you cannot really tell but this is in our closet.  They separated the rods so that I would not rip them out with my clothes…ummm yeah, been a fight/issue with me and clothing rods for years! J  We have a built in dresser in the middle of the closet as well that David built.  J
A pic of the stairwell now that it is stained/painted! J

Another view of the kitchen from the stairs!

I hope ya’ll enjoy the pics.  Have a fabulous weekend!  I cannot wait to see what's in store for us next week.  We are super excited bc mom and dad are hoping to come up next weekend to see the house for the first time.  This will be Dad's first trip out of town so we are SOOOO EXCITED!!!  Chas is going to be in Dallas as well so it will be so fun to have family in Dallas for the weekend! :)

2011 is our year! :)

Well this week has been pretty awesome, Dad got an absolutely FABULOUS check up and was a rock star when it came to his barium swallow test so we were on cloud nine and then I drove back to Dallas and saw this:

the remaining snow on the stone.   (caitlin and i had the pleasure of driving through the snow on the way to houston on sunday!) :)

the stone fireplace is in! :) Waiting for our mantle to be built...it will be wood!
from the upstairs looking down....ohhh and our hardwood floors are in!!!  The guys are coming once it gets warm to hand scrap the floors and stain them.... we think they look pretty darn good already! :)
we went with bead board doors (sp?) ...this is one going from the bedroom to our bathroom - we added extra trim around all the doors downstairs and the door ways downstairs 8 ft instead of the usual 6 ft since you know we are so tall and all
our bedroom with our purdy floors
 our laundry room cabinets! :)
the wet bar upstairs without the sink and icemaker.  oh yeah, and forgot to mention the cabinets have not been stained yet...they will all be dark wood....oh and dad, the wood is knotty alder.
this just makes pat and i laugh....the trim guys went a little nuts and trimmed the mini door to our ac ducts in a closet!...yeah, pat added up how much extra that cost us.  oh well, just money right?? :)

our stairwell is in....the guys that made it did an absolutely gorgeous job! :)
our kitchen!!!  i don't know if ya'll can tell but they are antique white with coffee colored glaze and the island is going to be a brown stain.
another view of it! :)

and my favorite piece..the Angie piece as everyone is calling it! :)  I found this on a interior decorating blog and just loved it and told Patrick I would give in to any of his whims on the house if I could have this for our dining room!  what i was going for:

what David made:  (note:  they are coming back to fix the cabinets and put the chicken wire in and then add the diamonds to the bottom pieces...they just forgot) and we are going to have it painted or we are going to try and pain it....we will see how that goes! :)

We are really excited how it turned out and how its going to turn out once done!

the house is coming together soo fast and is looking so great to us! :)  We cannot wait for everyone to come and see it and of course once we move in, stay with us! :)

We are in Austin this weekend for friends wedding and so excited to see all our Austin friends and family! :)  Thank you Mary and Chris (and Duggan) for letting us stay with you and stealing your internet connection to write this!

Have a fabulous weekend everyone and stay warm!
